POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the guidance of the Associate Director, the Enrollment Management Specialist will act as a key representative of the University of Connecticut within designated regions, engaging with prospective students, educational counselors, and other stakeholders to support undergraduate enrollment strategies. The ideal candidate will also be involved in the evaluation of applications, which entails assessing candidates for admission, scholarships, honors, and various programs. Enrollment Management Specialists are responsible for tasks associated with the recruitment, admission, and enrollment of undergraduate students in accordance with university and departmental regulations.

This role may be filled at either the Enrollment Management Specialist 1 or Enrollment Management Specialist 2 level, depending on the applicant's experience, skills, and qualifications as assessed by the University. The Enrollment Management Specialist 1 is an entry-level position that operates under closer supervision while gaining practical experience. Conversely, the Enrollment Management Specialist 2 carries out similar responsibilities with increased autonomy, functioning under general oversight. This position necessitates a deeper understanding of admissions processes, policies, practices, academic offerings, student engagement, and orientation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designs and implements undergraduate recruitment and outreach initiatives for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in assigned territories.
  • Reviews and processes admissions applications in line with university policies, objectives, and criteria for undergraduate student admission.
  • Guides applicants on admissions criteria, eligibility, program choices, residency stipulations, and other admission-related inquiries.
  • Leads the team for first-year application assessments for Storrs and regional campuses within designated areas.
  • Stays updated on academic program prerequisites, enrollment limitations, and other factors influencing student recruitment and admission.
  • Engages in extensive travel both within and outside the state to attract prospective students.
  • Assists in the maintenance and updating of admission records and prepares admissions reports as required.
  • Actively participates in student recruitment through promotional efforts, including direct interactions with counselors and students, organizing visits to high schools and college fairs, conducting panel discussions, presentations, and producing newsletters.
  • Conducts territory assessments to pinpoint effective enrollment targets and opportunities within assigned regions.
  • Coordinates to ensure representation at college fairs, high school visits, panel discussions, and recruitment events in designated areas.
  • Acts as the primary contact for the assigned region, serving as a resource for prospective students, parents, guidance counselors, educators, and the university community.
  • Interprets admission policies and addresses inquiries regarding academic programs, campus life, and requirements, making appropriate referrals as necessary.
  • Provides support and assistance to admission programs as assigned.
  • Adheres to relevant rules and regulations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. One to three years of relevant experience in student affairs or prior admissions experience. The level of Enrollment Management Specialist will be determined based on the candidate's education and experience, with the Enrollment Management Specialist 2 requiring a minimum of three years of related experience.
  3. Proficiency in utilizing technology in job functions.
  4. Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  5. Proven ability to make independent decisions and perform under pressure.
  6. Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
  7. Valid driver's license and proof of insurability.
  8. Familiarity with online information systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience in admissions.
  2. Experience in organizations dedicated to global diversity.
  3. Experience in both print and digital communications.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, permanent position requiring in-state and out-of-state travel, as well as flexible and irregular hours. The expected salary range is $51,344-$57,505. The University provides excellent benefits, including employee and dependent tuition waivers at UConn, along with a highly favorable work environment.
