Job Title: Bilingual Patient Service Representative

This is a full-time position that requires working in multiple counties, including Greenwood, Saluda, Abbeville, McCormick, Edgefield, Newberry, and Laurens. Bilingual in Spanish is required.

Job Summary:

The Patient Service Representative represents Carolina Health Centers and the assigned practice site in a professional manner and serves as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and callers. This position provides daily support for the practice site, including telephone coverage, appointment scheduling, check-in and check-out of patients, patient referrals, and general patient communication.

Responsibilities:
  • Answer the telephone with a standard greeting and respond to patient inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain a well-kept lobby and work space, and ensure patients understand the services provided and the benefits of choosing Carolina Health Centers as their medical home.
  • Verify demographics, insurance, and payment information, and collect co-pays and post payments accurately.
  • Run Medicaid eligibility daily and update patient paperwork annually.
  • Check patients in and out in the PM system and EHR, and schedule follow-up visits as needed.
  • Count cash boxes and log amounts at the beginning and end of each shift, and run acknowledged patient reports to ensure accuracy.
  • Conduct appointment phone call reminders, build new patient accounts, and scan and file patient documents.
  • Navigate through the EMR system to print records, identify medications, referrals, and lab results, and distribute and sort mail and courier items.
  • Operate the copier, credit card equipment, and postage machine, and respond to tasks from the patient portal in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current computer skills and ability to establish and promote positive interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and strong cultural competency.
  • Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines.
Salary:

Starting at $16.42/hour.
