About the Role:

ERM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Wildlife Consultant, Ecosystem Specialist to lead our team in conducting acoustic and mist-net surveys for bats and other protected species in the eastern United States.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and conduct habitat assessments, acoustic and mist-net surveys for bats and other protected species.
  • Develop and prepare proposals and survey plans for related projects.
  • Collaborate with clients and project teams to identify and prioritize conservation goals.
  • Conduct roost emergence counts, potential hibernaculum assessments, and other protected species surveys.
  • Lead and coordinate survey teams, ensuring effective communication and data collection.
  • Maintain and inventory equipment, and prepare daily progress reports and field assessment reports.
  • Collect and analyze data using ArcGIS Online and other tools.
  • Develop and implement conservation plans and strategies to protect and preserve ecosystems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as biology, ecology, or environmental science.
  • 6+ years of experience in bat survey and field leadership, with a strong background in protected species conservation.
  • Certified as a Qualified Bat Surveyor.
  • Federally permitted for Indiana, Grey, Virginia Big-Eared, and/or Northern Long-Eared Bats.
  • Proficient in the use of handheld real-time bat detectors and visual identification of bat species by sonogram.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and project teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on conservation and sustainability.
  • Detail-oriented, responsible, well-organized, professional, and self-motivated.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Pre-exposure rabies vaccinations required.
