Position Overview:
We are looking for a seasoned professional in competitive and market intelligence to join our Market & Competitive Intelligence team within Corporate Strategy. The Senior Manager will collaborate closely with Corporate Strategy and other key departments to uncover market and competitive insights, engaging in a variety of high-impact strategic initiatives to help Western Digital fulfill its vision of leveraging data to address the world's most pressing challenges. This role is dynamic and fast-paced, offering visibility to senior leadership who rely on this team's analyses for critical strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver timely and impactful analyses to senior management and the broader team, clearly articulating product, industry, and strategic implications.
- Develop and implement competitive and market sizing models to enhance our planning and decision-making processes.
- Integrate diverse internal and external perspectives to foster company-wide alignment on foresight, market views, and strategic context.
- Engage in competitive intelligence activities across the organization.
- Research market and competitive trends, including products, roadmaps, partnerships, and government policies, utilizing various internal and external resources.
- Lead significant strategic projects to support Western Digital's growth objectives.
- Proactively gather insights from internal domain experts.
- Enhance existing report formats and collaborate with key departments to identify improvements in processes, content, and insights.
- Foster strong teamwork within and beyond the Strategy team to drive organizational success.
- Incorporate tools and best practices into the function, aiding in the development of scalable capabilities within the company.
- Assist in the onboarding of new team members.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
A Master's degree in business, engineering, or computer science is preferred, with data management training considered a plus. Candidates should possess 5-10 years of experience in high technology sectors, including corporate strategy, product management, or technology management, with at least 3 years of experience utilizing market and competitive intelligence in decision-making.
Specific Knowledge:
Advanced data analytics and research capabilities are essential, along with a technical understanding of flash memory, controllers, and the functions/features of enterprise and hyperscale systems.
Skills:
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to synthesize various viewpoints and provide key takeaways and impact analyses.
Interpersonal Skills:
Effective communication of insightful findings and recommendations to senior management is crucial, as is the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Other Attributes:
Attention to detail, project management skills, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are vital. Candidates should also exhibit self-awareness and a commitment to personal development.
