Position Overview:

We are in search of a seasoned professional specializing in competitive and market intelligence to join our Market & Competitive Intelligence team within Corporate Strategy.

The Senior Manager will collaborate closely with Corporate Strategy and other critical departments to uncover market and competitive insights, contributing to a diverse array of high-impact strategic initiatives that align with Western Digital's mission – to design how data empowers the world to tackle its most pressing challenges.

This role is characterized by a fast-paced environment, dynamic interactions, and visibility with senior leadership, who often rely on this team's analyses for strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver timely and impactful analyses to senior management and the broader team, articulating product, industry, and strategic implications clearly and concisely.
  • Develop and implement competitive and market sizing models to enhance our planning and decision-making processes. Integrate diverse internal and external perspectives to foster company-wide alignment on foresight, market perspectives, and strategic context.
  • Engage in competitive intelligence activities across the organization.
  • Investigate market and competitive trends, including products, roadmaps, partnerships, government policies, and strategic customer relationships, utilizing various internal and external resources.
  • Lead significant strategic projects to support Western Digital's growth objectives.
  • Proactively seek insights from internal domain experts.
  • Contribute to the continuous enhancement of existing reporting formats; collaborate with key functional areas to identify improvements in processes, content, and insights.
  • Foster strong teamwork within and beyond the Strategy team to drive organizational success.
  • Integrate tools and best practices into the function; assist in building scalable capabilities within the company.
  • Support the onboarding of new team members.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:

  • Master's degree in business, engineering, or computer science. Data management training is a plus.
  • 5-10 years of experience in high technology sectors (corporate strategy, product management, technology management).
  • 3 years of experience utilizing market and competitive intelligence in decision-making processes.
Specific Knowledge:

  • Advanced data analytics and research capabilities.
  • Some technical understanding of flash memory, controllers, and the functions/features of enterprise and hyperscale requirements, systems, and ecosystems.
  • Ability to synthesize various viewpoints quickly and provide key takeaways and impact analyses.
Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Interpersonal Skills:

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues who may have competing priorities and viewpoints, including employees in other regions.

Effectively communicate insightful findings and recommendations to senior management.

Present a credible image and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
