Family Preservation Specialist

The Family Preservation Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the well-being of families and children. This position is responsible for assuming various administrative and direct service responsibilities, as outlined in the Agency Manual.
The successful candidate will establish and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including MDHHS, caregivers, service providers, and staff. They will report directly to the Director of Family Preservation.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain spreadsheets related to medical, dental, and documentation for RDMA.
- Monitor and log medical, dental, and legal documents to ensure compliance with DHHS and legal standards.
- Answer phones and assist clients as needed.
- Assist with opening and closing files, ongoing filing, uploading documents in MiSACWIS, and sending letters to caregivers and community partners.
- Conduct follow-up phone calls to dentist offices, medical offices, and caregivers regarding appointments or documentation.
- Support casework staff in providing services to clients, including assistance in diminishing barriers to obtaining necessary paperwork.
- Support parenting time visits by watching visits, documenting them in MiSACWIS, and transporting children as needed.
- Attend staff meetings, general staff meetings, and conferences for professional development.
- Participate in outreach and recruitment efforts.
- Represent the agency in a positive manner.
- Responsible for incorporating principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in work processes and job functions.
- High school graduate or equivalent. Associate's degree with experience, education, or training in child development and parent/child interaction is preferred.
- Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate agency and program needs. The candidate must be able to work some evenings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Selected candidates must possess a sensitivity to the diversity of the agency's service population, including differences of culture, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status.
