Mechanical Engineer 1 Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides mechanical engineering support for design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing of ruggedized radar and communication systems.
  • Designs electronics packaging, cooling systems, cable assemblies, test fixtures, and other custom parts and assemblies using 3D CAD software.
  • Assists in the thermal and structural analysis of designs using analytical and computational methods.
  • Creates drawings, bill of materials, written procedures, technical reports, and other design documentation.
  • Assists in the performance of testing to verify designs meet requirements.
  • Assists in the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment such as temperature, altitude, and humidity chambers and electrodynamic shaker systems.
  • Provides technical support to the quality assurance department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering.
  • High level of verbal and written communications skills.
  • Firm grasp of fundamentals of solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Professional Suite.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with 3D CAD design software such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, and CATIA.
  • Familiarity with structural and fluid dynamics simulation software such as SolidWorks Simulation, SolidWorks Flow, STAR-CCM+, and Ansys.
  • Competency in the preparation of engineering drawings in accordance with ASME standards.
