Position Overview:

The role involves the safe and efficient operation of a tanker truck. The primary responsibility is to manage the filling and emptying of the water tank while transporting water from designated locations to treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a 4,000-gallon tanker truck with precision.
  • Utilize diesel water pumps for filling and emptying the truck at collection sites.
  • Transport water to treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols.
  • Attach and detach hoses for loading and unloading water efficiently.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, completing necessary documentation as required.
  • Report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team promptly.
  • Adhere to safety standards and operational guidelines throughout all tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle, both inside and out.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of truck components and basic maintenance for safe operation.
  • Ability to operate various vehicles and equipment as needed.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Competence in basic mathematical calculations relevant to the job.
  • Capability to produce simple reports and documentation.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written instructions and company policies.
  • Proficient in backing up trailers safely.
  • Familiarity with air brake systems on trucks.
  • Capacity to drive vehicles with a weight capacity of up to 80,000 lbs.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or B required.
  • Tanker endorsement is mandatory.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • At least one year of commercial driving experience or completion of a CDL training program.
  • Must meet safety-sensitive function criteria as per company standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate the truck and equipment safely.

Physical and Mental Demands:
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Visual acuity for safe vehicle operation in various conditions.
  • Regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Work in loud environments and varying weather conditions.

Working Conditions:
  • Exposure to outdoor elements and varying weather conditions.
  • Continuous operation away from the main branch location.
  • Frequent interaction with motor vehicle traffic.
