Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Water Transport Driver is to operate a tanker truck safely and efficiently. This role involves the critical task of filling and emptying the water tank while transporting water from designated locations to treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a 4,000-gallon tanker truck.
  • Utilize diesel water pumps for filling and emptying the truck at designated sites.
  • Transport water over the road to nearby treatment facilities.
  • Attach and detach hoses for filling and emptying the tank as required.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and complete necessary documentation.
  • Report any mechanical issues to the mechanic and supervisor promptly.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and operational protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle, both interior and exterior.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of truck components and basic maintenance for safe operation.
  • Capability to operate various vehicles and equipment as needed.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations relevant to the job.
  • Competence in writing simple reports and documentation.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions and company policies.
  • Proficiency in backing up trailers safely.
  • Familiarity with air brakes on tractor-trailers.
  • Ability to operate vehicles carrying significant weight.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or B.
  • Tanker endorsement required.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • At least one year of commercial driving experience or completion of a CDL training program.
  • Must meet safety-sensitive function criteria as per company standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and operate equipment safely.

Physical and Mental Demands:
  • Ability to perform various physical activities including standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Visual acuity for close and distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Capacity to lift and move weights ranging from 10 to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work in loud environments.

Working Conditions:
  • Exposure to various weather conditions and outdoor environments.
  • Regularly working in high-traffic areas.
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise and moving mechanical parts.
