Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Tanker Truck Operator is to safely and efficiently operate a tanker vehicle for the transportation of water. This role involves managing the filling and emptying of the water tank while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a 4,000-gallon tanker truck with precision.
  • Utilize diesel water pumps for the loading and unloading of water at designated locations.
  • Transport water to treatment facilities while adhering to all safety regulations.
  • Attach and detach hoses for loading and unloading processes, performing these tasks multiple times throughout the day.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, completing necessary documentation as required.
  • Report any mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel promptly.
  • Follow established safety protocols and vehicle operation guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle, ensuring both interior and exterior are kept in good condition.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of truck mechanics and maintenance requirements.
  • Capability to operate various vehicles and equipment essential for the role.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic mathematical skills for operational tasks.
  • Ability to prepare simple reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Comprehension of company policies and procedures.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in maneuvering trailers safely.
  • Familiarity with air brake systems on commercial vehicles.
  • Ability to operate heavy vehicles weighing up to 80,000 lbs.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or B.
  • Tanker endorsement is mandatory.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • At least one year of commercial driving experience or completion of a CDL training program.
  • Must meet safety-sensitive function criteria as per company standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate the truck and equipment safely.

Physical and Mental Demands:
  • Ability to perform various physical tasks including standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Visual acuity for safe vehicle operation in diverse environments.
  • Capacity to lift and move weights up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in noisy and outdoor conditions.

Working Conditions:
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions and noise levels.
  • Continuous operation in traffic and potentially hazardous environments.
  • Regularly working in outdoor settings.
