Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Social Communication Support Specialist to join our team at Albuquerque Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a flexible program and environment that fosters learning and personal growth for students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet the unique needs and abilities of students.
  • Establish effective relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
  • Provide social communication support to students, including teaching social skills, emotional regulation, and communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with other educators and support staff to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive education for all students.
  • Evaluate student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of students.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Current New Mexico teaching certificate endorsed in Special Education.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and adapt to changing situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with students with special needs.
  • Knowledge of social communication strategies and techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
