ACK Marine & General Contracting, a prominent player in the marine heavy-civil and general construction sector, is on the lookout for a seasoned Lead Estimator. This role is crucial for managing bids across various projects in the New England region.

Key Responsibilities

The Lead Estimator will:

  • Collaborate with the estimating and project teams to produce competitive cost estimates and proposals.
  • Deliver precise cost estimates for new bids and provide timely pricing for change orders on ongoing projects.
  • Review project costs to ensure adherence to budget and schedule.
  • Analyze project drawings and specifications to determine the scope of work.
  • Lead the bid team, offering guidance on methods, schedules, and strategies.
  • Participate in technical proposal development.
  • Track actual costs against estimates to enhance future bidding processes.
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and production cost estimates.
  • Attend necessary pre-bid meetings and site visits.
  • Assist in estimating change orders and developing project schedules.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HCSS Heavy Bid, Sage/Timberline Software, and Bluebeam.
  • A passion for estimating and a creative problem-solving mindset.
  • A comprehensive understanding of marine, heavy civil, and general construction practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong mathematical and accounting abilities.
  • Experience leading and mentoring team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet critical deadlines.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant estimating experience in marine and heavy civil construction.
Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to:

  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
