About The Role

As a Senior Engineer, you will provide senior-level engineering expertise on complex electric transmission design projects for high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead utility systems.

Specifically, the position involves:

  • Managing, preparing, reviewing, and providing guidance for line routing, survey coordination, PLS-CADD modeling, structure design, foundation design, clearance checks, plan/profile development, material specification and procurement, constructability evaluations, work order package preparation, permitting, vendor/subcontractor coordination, and construction support.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and approve PLS-CADD criteria.
  • Finalize PLS-CADD models.
  • Schedule project tasks for the project support team.
  • Attend client stakeholder meetings.
  • Complete design review meetings with the client.
  • Mentor and train other engineering team members.
  • Provide input on special design questions.
  • Attend internal design review meetings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification (required).
  • 8+ years of related transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility industry (required).
  • Experience in using PLS-CADD for designing transmission lines (required).
  • Strong experience with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ASCE, and ACI.
  • Strong experience with liaising substation, environmental, right-of-way construction, and maintenance stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability in the application of engineering theories and principles.
  • Increasingly proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing, and presenting recommendations.
  • Ability to work in a safe manner and always obey safety regulations.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and thrive in an unstructured, varied, and deadline-driven work environment.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with team members as well as peers in the electrical utility industry.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).
  • Demonstrated verbal and technical writing skills.
