The YMCA of the Triangle Area is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Lead Literacy Teacher to join our team. As a Lead Literacy Teacher, you will be responsible for leading literacy lessons based on the HELPS small group curriculum for a group of children in our Y Learning program.
Key Responsibilities- Implement Literacy Lessons: Develop and implement literacy lessons based on the HELPS small group curriculum with fidelity to small groups of children in our Y Learning program.
- Manage Lesson Materials: Gather and manage materials for students participating in literacy small groups and additional intervention curriculum as outlined by school administrators.
- Track Progress: Maintain accurate data on student progress as stipulated by the HELPS curriculum and additional intervention curriculum as outlined by school administrators on a weekly basis.
- Ensure Program Quality: Adhere to program quality and fidelity standards, ensuring a high-quality experience for children and parents.
- Attend Meetings and Trainings: Attend staff meetings and trainings, including all HELPS trainings, to stay up-to-date on best practices and program requirements.
- Follow YMCA Policies: Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
- Build Relationships: Maintain positive relationships with parents, staff, and community organizations, and partner with YMCA staff to maintain communication with classroom teachers.
- Teaching Experience: Previous experience teaching in an elementary classroom setting is required.
- Teaching Certification: Elementary teaching certification is required.
- Communication Skills: Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people and communicate clearly through written and verbal communication.
- Adaptability: Ability to quickly adapt to change, work under stressful conditions, and be responsible for others.
