JOB SUMMARY
The Vice President of Strategic Brand Development is a highly experienced brand strategist and client-focused planning leader with a proven history of managing intricate accounts and presentations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Brand Strategy Development
- Mastery in strategic methodologies, agency protocols, and pharmaceutical compliance standards.
- Transforms market dynamics, consumer insights, and comprehensive knowledge of disease states into effective brand strategies and solutions to brand challenges.
- Exhibits exceptional storytelling capabilities and a distinctive voice in written strategic communication.
- Leadership in new business initiatives and participation in pitch meetings.
Client Relationship Management
- Demonstrates strategic leadership and facilitates large-scale and customized client workshops and brainstorming sessions.
- Influences the development of strategic perspectives and recommendations both internally and with senior clients.
- Acts as a consultant to clients on market research design, methodologies, and analytical approaches.
- Possesses a strong strategic voice, driving clarity, direction, and leadership in internal and client meetings.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Leads strategic planning efforts across multiple brands and integrated accounts with autonomy and expertise.
- Collaborates with other agency departments to ensure effective implementation of insights and strategies.
- Talent Management & Development
- Oversees and cultivates junior staff, delegating tasks and responsibilities as appropriate.
- Responsible for recruitment and staffing decisions, as well as comprehensive talent management (including feedback delivery, performance reviews, and general management).
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Exhibits expert-level understanding of strategic planning fundamentals related to disease states, indications, and customer science for assigned brands.
- Leads strategic planning for various large and small accounts, new business opportunities, and supports senior planners on larger integrated accounts with autonomy and proficiency.
- Oversees the complete suite of brand strategy deliverables (positioning, foundational elements, creative briefs, messaging strategies, tactical planning) while mentoring junior team members towards success.
- Expertise in market research and consulting; drives insight generation and ideation to uncover strategic opportunities and enhance creative processes.
- Proficient in planning tools and core competencies, ensuring proper utilization of positioning, insight generation, and creative brief writing.
- Leadership in new business efforts; gathers insights, crafts narratives, develops strategies, and ensures effective execution.
- Strategic leadership and facilitation of complex and tailored client workshops and brainstorming sessions.
- Directly supervises Director and Associate Director levels on brand(s), providing mentorship and guidance as necessary.
- Regularly meets with direct and indirect reports to proactively manage career development.
- Responsible for hiring, staffing, career development, and comprehensive talent management for the direct team (including feedback delivery, performance reviews, and general management).
- Exhibits leadership, empathy, and professionalism in all communications.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
8+ years in brand strategy or market research within an agency environment is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proficient in software relevant to client and agency processes, including Microsoft Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Strong working knowledge of research tools (search databases including SERMO, Datamonitor).
- Excellent understanding of social media platforms.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical abilities; capable of synthesizing insights and data from various sources to solve problems.
- Able to manage multiple projects, adhere to timelines, and maintain organization.
- Ability to leverage AI platforms to enhance brand needs and strategic deliverables.
- In-depth understanding of agency offerings, services, products, and solutions.
- Expert-level knowledge of brand/pharmaceutical marketing and promotional strategies and trends (customer, industry, innovation).
SALARY
$160,000 to $230,000 annually.
This salary range is noted within this job posting. Compensation will depend on various factors, including current/former employee ranges, market considerations, budgetary factors, tenure, and the applicant's background, experience, and qualifications.
