POSITION OVERVIEW

This role reports directly to the Vice President of Finance and is accountable for managing daily accounting functions for the entire organization. This includes oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, costing, and general ledger activities.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust accounting background, outstanding organizational capabilities, and a strong problem-solving aptitude. This position is based in Long Beach, California, and does not offer remote work options.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare and evaluate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Coordinate the month-end and year-end closing processes, which encompass journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals, while verifying the accuracy of financial transactions.
  • Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing, vendor payments, customer billing, and collections, while monitoring aging reports for discrepancies.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, including daily bank reconciliations.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of enhanced processes and internal controls within the accounting division.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts.
  • Manage the annual financial statement audit for the company.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the VP of Finance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • CPA certification.
  • Experience with a top 10 accounting firm.
  • Three to five years of relevant experience.
  • Strong grasp of GAAP principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of engaging effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Dedication to ongoing learning and professional growth.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and modeling, with advanced skills in Excel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A blend of experience in both accounting firms and industry roles.
  • Prior experience with SAP, Sage, or Crystal Reports.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles.
  • Experience in a private equity-backed organization.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, with the capacity to lift up to 20 lbs. as necessary. The role is situated in an office environment with controlled temperature settings. Occasional travel by air to manufacturing sites may be required.
