Construction Engineering Specialist
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct quality assurance and review of architectural/engineering and construction contractor deliverables, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and design standards.
Identify and address engineering challenges that arise during project execution, which may involve proposing alternative solutions, conducting feasibility assessments, and implementing innovative strategies to enhance project results.
Engage proactively with stakeholders to identify project issues, propose solutions, discuss technical requirements, provide thorough analysis, and document outcomes.
Conduct independent assessments of project risks during design and construction phases, utilizing earned value management, critical path scheduling, compliance with construction management submissions, and other risk indicators.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
Experience & Skills:
A minimum of 5 years of experience within the last decade in civil utilities, structures, and facilities design and construction (including airfields, roads, parking pavements, stormwater management, and water/wastewater systems).
At least 5 years of relevant experience in civil facility design/project management, primarily focused on pavements (airfield, roads, parking).
Familiarity with related engineering disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, structural, environmental, and electrical engineering to effectively manage multidisciplinary projects.
Knowledge of IBC, Unified Facilities Criteria, ASCE, ACI, MUTCD, AASHTO, and ABA standards.
Understanding of geotechnical engineering principles is preferred.
Design Expertise:
Proficient in the design of airfield pavements, roads, stormwater systems, and water distribution and wastewater systems.
Strong understanding of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Department of Defense (DoD), and Air Force policies, processes, and procedures related to military projects.
Proficient in Design and Construction Management at the project level, with a solid grasp of IBC, Unified Facilities Criteria, ASCE, ACI, MUTCD, AASHTO, and ABA standards.
Demonstrated organizational and project management skills, including expertise in design and construction project scope, financial management, scheduling, quality assurance, and risk management.
Strong understanding of government procurement policies and procedures related to federal Architect/Engineer (A/E) design and construction contracts.
Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings, historical blueprints, and facility/project specifications.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Successful completion of a federal background check and drug screening is required for employment.
