Become a vital member of our innovative team at TowerPinkster, a distinguished firm specializing in architecture, engineering, and interior design across multiple states. We are in search of a skilled Lead Structural Engineering Specialist with a robust background of ten to fifteen years in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sector. This role involves conducting structural assessments and designs for various building projects while aiding in the formulation of engineering calculations and specifications. Proficiency in developing drawings within a BIM environment is essential. This position offers a pathway to leadership, where you will provide guidance and mentorship to the Structural Team in Kalamazoo. Responsibilities include managing team workloads, scheduling, mentoring, and collaborating with the Department Manager to foster an effective leadership team while continuously seeking process enhancement opportunities.

CLIENT RELATIONS

  • Take part in interviewing prospective clients to comprehend their requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients in planning design, determining solutions, and outlining project scope to develop a structural strategy that meets client expectations.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
  • Act as a senior subject matter expert to address structural challenges in projects.
  • Lead and coordinate project efforts with other disciplines, clients, and construction partners to achieve schedule milestones.
  • Assist with quality assurance checks and ensure thorough reviews of all projects.
  • Conduct facility evaluations, field assessments, and engineering studies.
MENTORSHIP
  • Guide team members by sharing experiences, knowledge, skills, and lessons learned for ongoing improvement.
  • Assist the department manager in creating training and mentorship opportunities for individuals and the team.
  • Lead, instruct, and support other project team members in their professional growth and development.
LEADERSHIP
  • Provide insights on work priorities and project scheduling.
  • Conduct quality control reviews on various projects.
  • Serve as a structural engineering expert to resolve project-related issues.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental standards and procedures.
  • Potential leadership duties include:
    • Establishing appropriate staffing levels and workload assignments in collaboration with the Manager, Operations, and Business Development Team.
    • Forecasting future staffing needs and actively participating in recruitment efforts.
    • Regularly meeting with the Manager to understand the overall workload and projections of the firm, evaluating assignments for current and future projects.
    • Guiding young professionals through the licensure process.
    • Conducting performance evaluations for team members under your supervision.
    • Partnering with the Manager to present summaries of performance evaluations and discuss merit increase recommendations for your team.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Licensure.
  • 15 years of experience in the A/E industry preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience leading project teams.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of A/E construction documents and the construction industry preferred.
  • Ability to lead and support a talented team.
  • Active participation in professional organization memberships.
  • Proficiency in REVIT software, along with standard structural engineering software (RISA 3D, RAM Structural System, RAM Elements, Tedds, and similar programs).
  • The ideal candidate should be capable of performing detailed structural analysis and design across a variety of materials and systems, including concrete, steel, light gauge steel, masonry, and timber.
  • Coordination of design work with in-house professionals, including architects and other engineering disciplines.
  • Assist in preparing structural engineering-related calculations, specifications, and developing drawings within a BIM environment.
