Responsibilities

This role is dedicated to seed stage and pre-Series A startups within SVB's portfolio, focusing on managing lending and credit solutions in collaboration with clients, investors, and the Relationship Management Team.

The Credit Solutions division oversees a diverse array of credit relationships. Key responsibilities include leading the due diligence and deal structuring processes, overseeing underwriting, approvals, and closings. The position requires close collaboration with the Relationship Management Team to negotiate and deliver tailored solutions. Proactive portfolio management is essential, ensuring credit quality and profitability targets are met. The role involves making informed recommendations based on evolving circumstances across various complex issues. Staying updated on market, sector, and competitive trends is crucial. Building and nurturing relationships with key client stakeholders is necessary to remain responsive to changing needs while balancing the interests of both clients and SVB. Additionally, the role involves providing insights and perspectives on loan types and credit trends within specific sectors. Mentoring less experienced team members to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness is also a key aspect of this position. The ability to manage resources effectively to optimize processes and outcomes is vital. Engaging independently with clients to build relationships and address ongoing needs is expected.

Primary Duties:

  1. Lead the structuring, underwriting, and closing of credit solutions for designated clients and prospects.
  2. Oversee the end-to-end process for all but the most complex transactions, collaborating with Relationship Management, clients, Credit Administration, Legal partners, and other stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
  3. Effectively manage resources and scale operations as needed.
  4. Manage a portfolio of borrowing relationships, assessing risk and fostering relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  5. Communicate internally to recommend and implement responses to changing client situations and ensure adherence to SVB's portfolio management standards.
  6. Participate in team development through collaboration and coaching of Associates supporting the team.
  7. Develop and showcase subject matter expertise within the team, including market trends, business models, and lending practices, to enhance scalability and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience in credit analysis and portfolio management, or a High School diploma/GED with at least 8 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively and independently with clients.
  • Familiarity with credit policies and risk assessments.
  • Experience within the technology startup ecosystem.
  • Commitment to enhancing the overall client experience.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.

The base salary for this role typically ranges from $108,150 to $162,226 annually. Actual starting salaries will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other lawful factors. Total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the employment offer.
