Orthopedic Front Desk Position Overview

A Front Desk Representative is responsible for ensuring the clinic meets the required standards to be successful. This includes HIPAA rules, OSHA rules, Compliance rules and regulations against fraud and abuse. Verifying surgical benefits, calculating estimated pre-collections, communicating patients of their financial responsibility, and verifying authorization and referral placement for multiple procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements
  • Verify surgical benefits and calculate estimated pre-collections
  • Communicate with patients regarding financial responsibility
  • Verify authorization and referral placement for multiple procedures
Requirements
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Skills in operating business office machines
  • Skills in answering the telephone in a professional manner
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
