Overview:

Are you a skilled leader with a dedication to library services and a focus on outstanding customer engagement? As the Central Services Coordinator, you will oversee the daily functions of Info. Central, guiding our staff and system-wide initiatives. Your responsibilities will encompass recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of team members, along with the management of comprehensive library services. The starting salary for this position is $61,152.00, with numerous avenues for professional growth and benefits commencing shortly after hiring.

Position Responsibilities

In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Act as a representative of Sarasota County to library patrons, ensuring that service standards are met and inquiries are addressed promptly and courteously.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment that promotes team involvement and innovative problem-solving.
  • Stay informed about current trends and advancements in library services.
  • Supervise the Info Central staff, conducting annual performance evaluations and interim reviews for new employees.
  • Assist at service desks and other library sections as needed.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the library's databases and electronic resources, implementing effective research strategies when required.
  • Oversee the Unique Management collection program, ensuring compliance with system policies while addressing unique situations.
  • Conduct follow-ups on Teleforms.
  • Manage phone message recordings and ensure accurate phone menu timings.
  • As a liaison to the County Contact Center, update and create FAQs for the Knowledge Base as necessary.
  • Compile usage statistics and prepare reports as requested.
  • Conduct proactive assessments of fraud awareness and risk management within your responsibilities; oversee audits and ensure that appropriate controls are in place.
Work Schedule

Hours:

  • Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
  • Monday to Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Availability during library operating hours, including some evenings and weekends, is required.
  • Current library operations do not include Sundays, though this may change.
  • Work schedules may vary due to split shifts, rotations, on-call duties, emergencies, etc.
Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Library and Information Services.
  • -OR- Bachelor's degree with enrollment in a MLS/MLIS program, with the ability to complete the degree within twelve months of hire.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
  • One year of supervisory experience.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License by the date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Two or more years of experience in library services.

Additional Information:

This position requires passing a pre-employment substance screening. Failure to pass will result in disqualification from employment for five years.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting Salary: $61,152.00
