About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Library Assistant to join our team at Sarasota County Libraries. As a key member of our Info. Central Department, you will provide exceptional customer service, resolve routine questions and tech/account problems, and refer more complex issues when necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide public information and reference services in the Information Central department, a centralized system-wide telephone and electronic reference service.
  • Implement standards of service that ensure the prompt and efficient resolution of each inquiry by customers.
  • Offer directional and service-related information to users.
  • Assist library users in person, by phone, or electronically.
  • Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance.
  • Sort and shelve materials and maintain an orderly arrangement of materials.
  • Aid in operating and basic troubleshooting of automated materials check-in, emptying and swapping materials bins, and routine maintenance.
About the Schedule

This position requires a flexible schedule, with full-time hours of 40 hours per week. You must be available to work Monday - Saturday, 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Work schedules may vary due to split shifts, rotations, on-call, emergencies, etc.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • One year of experience in a clerical or customer service environment, preferably in a library setting.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
