About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Library Assistant to join our team at the Gulf Gate Public Library. As a key member of our library staff, you will provide exceptional customer service, resolve routine inquiries, and support the daily operations of the library.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance to library patrons, answering questions and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with material checkout, check-in, and processing of reserves, billing, and missing items.
  • Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance, ensuring the library's technology and facilities are in good working order.
  • Sort and shelve materials, maintaining an organized and accessible collection for patrons.
  • Assist with operating and basic troubleshooting of automated materials check-in and other library systems.
About the Schedule

This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week. Work schedules may vary due to split shifts, rotations, on-call, and emergencies. On occasion, you may be reassigned to fill in at other libraries within Sarasota County.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent education.
  • One year of experience in a clerical or customer service environment (preferred).

This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. If selected, you will need to present the required documents on your first day, including your I-9 Acceptable Documents and U.S. Social Security Card.
