Job Summary

The Development Director will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all development activities, ensuring the foundation's financial stability and growth. This role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan, cultivating relationships with major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations, and overseeing grant writing and reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for all development activities.
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan that supports the organization's mission and goals.
    • Set annual fundraising goals and create strategies to achieve them.

Relationship Management

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations.
  • Develop and implement strategies for donor engagement and retention.
  • Represent the organization at fundraising events, meetings, and networking opportunities.

Grant Writing and Reporting

  • Oversee the grant writing process, including identifying funding opportunities, preparing proposals, and submitting applications.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements and manage grant reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary information for grant applications and reports.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in development and fundraising, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Experience with donor management software and fundraising platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.

Additional Information

  • The position can be based anywhere in the U.S. and requires the ability to oversee fundraising, attend virtual and in-person meetings, and represent the organization at specific functions and to certain high-profile individuals/corporations, which may require travel.
  • The Development Director will be expected to work closely with the executive team and board of directors to align fundraising strategies with organizational goals.
