Job Summary:

The Patient Access Specialist is a patient-facing role that provides access to services in the hospital. This position is predominantly responsible for facilitating the flow of patient registration by gathering patient demographics and third-party information with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently process patient registration, verifying patient information, processing payments, and helping families accurately complete paperwork.
  • Resolve any issues that arise, maintaining a high level of customer service experience to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, their families, and co-workers.
  • Maintain knowledge of HIPAA, Patient's Rights and Responsibilities, HMOs, PPOs, Commercial Payors, and department/system policies and procedures.
  • Operate in a standing/walking environment, handling unexpected challenges with sensitivity and diplomacy.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of healthcare, patient access operations activities, or related experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • National Association of Healthcare Access Management CHAA Certification preferred.
