Job Opportunity in Urban Studies
The University of Pittsburgh's Urban Studies Program invites applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor position, pending budgetary approval. The successful candidate will teach a 3-3 course load to support the Program's BS in Urban Studies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate courses in Social Justice & the City, the carceral city, and research methods.
- Develop and implement curriculum that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Contribute to the Program's mission to foster a culturally diverse environment.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Geography, Sociology, or a related field.
- Experience in undergraduate teaching, including teaching social justice and urban inequality courses.
- Strong commitment to continuous improvement as an undergraduate instructor.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pedagogical publications and/or research experience.
- Successful communication strategies to reach and inform a diverse student population.
Application Requirements:
- Cover letter addressing relevant teaching experience and research interests.
- Current CV, including a list and location of undergraduate courses.
- Teaching Portfolio (8 pages max), including a statement of teaching philosophy and/or pedagogical practices.
