Teaching Assistant Professor in Morphosyntax

The University of Pittsburgh Department of Linguistics invites applications for the position of Teaching Assistant Professor (appointment stream), specializing in corpus approaches to morphology and/or syntax, starting Fall 2025.
Essential Qualifications:
- PhD in linguistics or applied linguistics by the time of appointment
- Ability to teach one or more of the following courses: morphology, syntax
- Ability to teach one or more of the following courses: corpus linguistics, data science, field methods, typology, endangered languages
- Focus on non-English language(s)
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching in higher education
- Evidence of a critical perspective in teaching and research
- Expertise in the core area of morphology and/or syntax
- Experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students
Preferred Qualifications:
- Research interests, evidenced by a record of publications featuring a focus on morphology and/or syntax via corpus approaches
- Expertise with data-intensive and quantitative methods
- Focus on non-Indo-European language(s), low-resource languages, and/or cross-linguistic approaches
- Experience with linguistic fieldwork
- Experience with involvement in partnerships outside of academia (e.g., industry or non-profit sectors)
- Experience integrating undergraduate students into research collaborations
