About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Vice President of Corporate Facilities to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. This is a critical leadership position that will oversee the Engineering and Maintenance department across our health system.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership and Oversight: Provide strategic leadership and oversight to the Engineering and Maintenance department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services across our health system.
  2. Communication and Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with senior leadership, stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure effective communication and collaboration on projects and initiatives.
  3. Master Facilities Planning: Develop and maintain system and campus-focused Master Facilities Plans, working closely with senior leadership to ensure alignment with organizational strategies.
  4. Capital Project Management: Develop, manage, and execute capital project budgets, working with finance leadership to develop a long-term capital project plan.
  5. Facilities Engineering and Maintenance: Ensure that facilities engineering services maintain and repair infrastructure and equipment in a coordinated, constructive, and collaborative fashion, minimizing risk and promoting uninterrupted normal operations.
  6. Design and Construction: Collaborate with the System Executive Director of Design and Construction to ensure robust and competitive bid processes, and provide oversight for the selection and engagement of system-wide design professionals, engineers, and outside consultants.
  7. Sustainability and Energy Efficiency: Design all system facilities in an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient fashion.
  8. Project Management: Review and monitor progress of the general contractor's work against the contract specifications and the construction schedule, ensuring all projects are on time and on budget, and that all work areas are in a safe condition.
  9. Data Analytics: Ensure all data analytics are optimized by ensuring data integrity, dashboard, and reporting are robust to direct work, optimize efficiency, and manage the daily work.
  10. Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with the System Executive Director of Engineering to schedule and coordinate all hospital agency inspections, report on same, and follow up on any corrective measures.
  11. Change Management: Ensure that change orders are minimized by appropriately vetting projects with stakeholders in advance, and gaining senior leadership approval for those unforeseen changes.
  12. Real Estate and Leasing: Collaborate with the System Executive Director of Real Estate to develop leasing strategies, provide oversight to all real estate leases and transactions, and advise leadership on strategic property acquisitions.
  13. Operational Alignment: Work with operational, finance, human resource, and other stakeholders to advance the clinical and operational alignment for all strategic, infrastructure, and real estate projects and strategies.
  14. Human Resources: Oversee the 300+ FTEs throughout the department, ensuring that performance management, talent management, staff engagement, and competency management are completed, and that succession planning is robust and up to date throughout all functions.
Qualifications

We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field required. Master's Degree in business or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Experience: 10-15 years of experience in leading and directing large healthcare facilities.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to manage a larger portfolio of external vendors and oversee competitive bid processes and negotiate contracts.
  • Accountability: Accountable to the strategic direction, operational, and fiscal responsibility for this function.
  • Complexity: Consistently demonstrates the values of integrity, patient-centered, respect, accountability, and compassion in personal and job-related decisions and actions.
  • Licensure/Certification: CHFM and FACHE preferred.
