About the Role

Burns & McDonnell is a leading engineering, architecture, and construction company with a global presence. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Mission Critical team, specializing in data center projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical systems and equipment for data centers, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their mechanical system requirements and provide expert advice on available solutions.
  • Oversee the installation of designed equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and safety codes.
  • Participate in developing design criteria for air and water side of building mechanical systems.
  • Review mechanical designs and specifications for equipment or systems being purchased or fabricated.
  • Develop concept studies and designs, enforcing standards and practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • At least 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a preference for EPC project experience.
  • Expert knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures, as well as mechanical equipment design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE).
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead the discipline design for large projects and delegate work tasks to team members.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
Preferred Criteria
  • Data center or telecommunication facility experience.
  • Knowledge of critical facility electrical design.
  • Ability to write specifications for electrical equipment, devices, and material.
  • Familiarity with other building systems and coordination with those systems and components.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
