Your Role

The Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Technician, Level II within the PEARCE Renewables Energy Storage Systems (ESS) division is responsible for executing operations and maintenance (O&M) tasks, alongside physical labor, at commercial and industrial solar energy installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and perform preventive maintenance on Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) equipment.
  • Execute Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures as an authorized individual under proper LOTO conditions.
  • Facilitate daily safety and task planning discussions, including pre-task planning, Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), and Risk Assessments (RAs).
  • Engage with vendors and clients in a professional manner.
  • Collaborate as a team member to support site operations, which may involve supervising field activities with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.

Note: Specific duties may evolve over time based on business and client requirements.

Core Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of electrical expertise related to electrical systems and components is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in renewable energy is preferred.
  • A strong commitment to safety and attention to detail, with the ability to identify potential issues and propose safe solutions.
  • Post-secondary education is preferred.
  • Relevant electrical certifications such as OSHA 10, OSHA 30, and NFPA70E are preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to meet Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) internal and external standards are required.

  • Prolonged standing and working in ergonomically challenging positions may be required.
  • Work may be conducted in varied climates depending on project locations.
