The Therapeutic Recreation Specialist position presents a remarkable opportunity within a newly established PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) initiative. This role is situated in a collaborative and innovative environment, supported by a dedicated leadership team and a network of community partners. The Specialist will collaborate closely with the Center Manager and the participant care team to implement our care model, significantly impacting an underserved demographic.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Recreation Therapy team in conducting initial assessments and formulating care plans.
  • Monitor participant diversity and adapt activities to meet their interests and needs.
  • Develop a Recreation Therapy Wellness calendar based on participant feedback and assessments.
  • Provide co-treatment strategies and training to other departments.
  • Facilitate group and individual activities, including exercise, arts and crafts, and games.
  • Assist in organizing special events and participate in care planning meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a recognized Recreational Therapy program.
  • Experience with elderly or frail populations is preferred.
  • Understanding of the principles and techniques for engaging with frail elderly individuals.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and background check.
  • Valid Driver's License and compliance with company driving policies.
  • Current vaccinations, including COVID-19, are required.
