Job Overview

Position Summary:

As a Materials and Process Engineer specializing in Additive Manufacturing (AM), you will play a pivotal role in the advancement of aerospace and AM technologies at ADDMAN Engineering LLC. Our company is dedicated to innovation across various alloy categories, particularly utilizing laser powder bed fusion technology. You will spearhead the creation of novel processing methodologies for materials, including ultra-high temperature refractory alloys and functional soft magnetic materials. This position encompasses oversight of internal development initiatives, government-funded research, and customer material and part qualification projects.

Your daily responsibilities will involve collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders on experimental designs, as well as working with suppliers to conduct non-destructive and destructive evaluations of materials or feedstocks. You will analyze and present data to guide customer decisions and future development projects. At ADDMAN Engineering LLC, you will be part of a rapidly expanding, elite engineering team, working closely with program managers, application engineers, technicians, machinists, quality assurance professionals, and company leadership. This role reports directly to the Director of Materials and Manufacturing Technology.

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which mandates U.S. citizenship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a resource for internal and external clients regarding material and feedstock selection, developing best practices, sourcing guidelines, and specifications.
  • Design experiments and create layouts and documentation for various laser powder bed fusion printing systems.
  • Manage lot tracking, inventory transactions, and storage/mixing protocols for powder feedstocks, evaluating new vendors and their offerings prior to procurement.
  • Oversee all material and powder testing for both research and production purposes.
  • Enhance organizational capabilities in additive manufacturing processing and characterization, including equipment assessments and acquisitions.
  • Operate characterization, testing, and additive manufacturing machinery.
  • Develop material databases and marketing materials for newly qualified substances.
  • Lead the creation and revision of powder, material, and process specifications.
  • Drive internal initiatives to improve quoting, printing, laboratory, and post-printing workflows.
  • Investigate end-user requirements through communication with sales, direct client interactions, and internal stakeholders, with potential travel to trade shows and customer sites.
  • Mentor and educate junior employees, technicians, interns, or co-ops as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science or a related discipline.
  • Prior experience in Additive Manufacturing.
