This role plays a pivotal part in the month-end closure and budgeting activities, with a focus on documenting, monitoring, and finalizing Capital Expenditure Projects.

Collaboration across various departments is essential to ensure that project goals align with the strategic objectives of the Butterball Live Operations and Finance teams. Exceptional leadership and communication skills are crucial for effectively navigating the policies and procedures of each operational site.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure precise and systematic financial documentation, adhering to established accounting standards and regulations.
  • Oversee the general ledger by documenting transactions, crafting journal entries, and performing account reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of diverse financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Accountable for the documentation, monitoring, and closure of Capital Expenditure Requests across all Butterball Live Operations.
  • Analyze expenses related to Feed Mills and Live Operations, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and aiding in the budgeting process.
  • Support the budgeting efforts for all Butterball Live locations.
  • Contribute to the month-end and year-end closing activities by preparing essential schedules and reconciliations.
  • Assist in the timely and accurate reporting of Weekly Live Variance Reporting.
  • Provide necessary documentation for both internal and external audits on a periodic and annual basis.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team on special initiatives, financial analysis, and other assigned tasks.
  • Cross-train and support all Live Accounting roles at each location.
  • Input vendor information into the accounting software system.
  • Process invoices against corresponding purchase orders (POs), ensuring accuracy, resolving discrepancies, and facilitating timely vendor payments.
  • Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue payments.
  • Accurately post and allocate incoming payments.
  • Review pricing and formulas within the accounting system; update as necessary.
  • Foster positive and professional relationships with suppliers, employees, and leadership.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, along with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, fixed assets, reporting standards, and revenue recognition.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and precision.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

In lieu of a college degree, a combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.


  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis roles is required.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP or similar, is preferred.
Working Environment:

  • Work is conducted in an office setting equipped with telephones, personal computers, and printers.
  • The environment typically has a moderate noise level.
  • This is a sedentary position with occasional lifting of items weighing less than 15 pounds.
  • May require standing for up to one-third of the workday.
  • Ability to collaborate virtually with stakeholders across various time zones.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time may be required.
