About the Role
The Security Officer role at MaineHealth is responsible for monitoring the healthcare environment to help prevent security incidents from occurring and deescalating incidents as they emerge. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor the healthcare environment to identify potential security risks and take proactive measures to mitigate them.
- Respond to security incidents in a timely and effective manner, deescalating situations as needed.
- Provide protective services and, with sufficient training, patient restraints as deemed necessary by medical staff.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients and staff.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED preferred. If appropriate for location, must obtain IAHSS certification within one year of hire required.
- License/Certifications: Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. Valid Driver's license if required at local Health System. Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or similar to be completed within local Health System requirements.
- Experience: Relevant experience in hospital safety and security preferred.
