QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred AAS degree, but mechanic certifications will be evaluated; 10+ years of experience with some supervisory background is desired.
  • Robust background in diesel and gas mechanical maintenance.
  • Capable of performing daily maintenance and repairs.
  • Experience with both agricultural and heavy machinery, including traditional farm equipment, excavators, and land leveling tools.
  • Willingness to operate machinery as necessary.
  • Welding and fabrication skills are essential.
  • Experience in ordering and managing parts inventory.
  • Strong communication and writing skills in English are mandatory.
  • Experience in rice farming is a significant advantage.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is seeking a skilled Farm Mechanic to take on the role of Lead Mechanic Supervisor on a rice farm located in northern central California.

The current manager has dedicated 51 years to this position and is nearing retirement.

We are looking for a key individual interested in a long-term career with the potential to eventually transition into the Shop Manager role.

The farm features a well-equipped shop with multiple bays and doors, designed for handling various projects simultaneously, and is climate-controlled for comfort.

Most of the equipment is relatively new, so the focus will be on maintenance rather than major repairs, which will be referred to the dealer.

We require someone experienced with both agricultural and heavy machinery, including brakes, transmissions, hydraulics, welding, and fabrication skills.

The individual in this role will be responsible for ordering parts and maintaining the inventory, as well as planning equipment flow through the shop during the offseason and prioritizing tasks during the busy season.

We are looking for a candidate who is familiar with reading service and parts manuals and possesses strong overall mechanical aptitude. This location offers excellent schools and job opportunities for a spouse. Compensation will be based on experience, stability, and references. Hiring will include background checks and reference follow-ups.

BENEFITS:

Two weeks of paid time off (PTO) plus eight national holidays, three medical paid days, 401K retirement plan after one year, company vehicle and gas allowance after four months within a 30-mile radius of the farm, health insurance, vision, and dental coverage on a cost-sharing basis with family, and a housing stipend of $1250.
