Job Description

**About the Role**

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design and development of advanced robotic systems at DeepRec. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating innovative, reliable mechanical solutions for our cutting-edge robotic platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Mechanical Design: Develop and implement mechanical design strategies for robotic hardware, from concept through to prototyping and final production.
  • CAD Design and Analysis: Create 3D models, detailed mechanical drawings, and assemblies using CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent). Perform and oversee structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis to ensure the mechanical integrity, performance, and durability of systems.
  • Collaboration and Integration: Work closely with electrical and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with sensors, actuators, and control systems.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Drive rapid prototyping efforts using additive manufacturing, CNC machining, and other fabrication techniques, iterating based on test data and performance. Conduct hands-on testing and validation of mechanical systems, ensuring performance meets safety, reliability, and functional requirements.
  • Design Reviews and Leadership: Lead design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to an innovative, problem-solving team culture.
  • Manufacturing and Scalability: Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, cost, and scalability.
  • Industry Trends and Advancements: Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in robotic hardware and apply this knowledge to drive innovation in designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with a focus on robotic systems, automation, or similar high-tech hardware development.
  • Expertise in CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar) and proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Extensive experience with mechanical analysis tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, or equivalent) for thermal, structural, and dynamic simulations.
  • Proven experience leading the full lifecycle of hardware development, from initial concept to mass production.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, including 3D printing, machining, and other fabrication techniques.
  • Familiarity with electromechanical systems, including actuators, sensors, and controllers.
  • Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and DFM/DFA principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to overcoming technical challenges.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic startup environment, working on multiple projects with shifting priorities.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.

  • Experience in the development of robotic arms, mobile robots, or autonomous systems.
  • Familiarity with motion control, kinematics, or robotic system dynamics.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup or R&D environment.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and safety requirements for robotics hardware.
