Position Overview:
As a Structural Steel Fitter, you will play a crucial role in the assembly and fitting of structural steel components, including bridge girders, ensuring precision and efficiency in your work.

Compensation:
Pay ranges from $28 to $35 per hour based on experience.

Shifts Available:
1st and 2nd shifts are offered to accommodate various schedules.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute layout and fitting tasks for structural steel elements with minimal supervision.
  • Interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate assembly.
  • Identify and work with various steel shapes, including beams and columns, while marking weld sizes and piece identifiers.
  • Utilize a range of tools and equipment, such as welding machines and measuring instruments, to complete fitting assignments.
  • Conduct thorough quality checks on finished work to verify alignment and compliance with project specifications.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, including welders and project managers, to achieve project goals.
  • Maintain a safe and organized workspace, adhering to all safety regulations.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues during the fabrication and installation phases.


Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience as a Journeyman Fitter/Fabricator, particularly in structural steel and bridge projects.
  • Expertise in layout and fitting techniques, with the ability to accurately interpret blueprints.
  • Strong knowledge of structural welding processes.
  • Capability to perform structural welding as required.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes.
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Physical stamina to work in diverse environments.
  • Certifications in AWS D1.1, AWS D1.5, and/or AWS D1.8 are advantageous.


Work Environment:
The position is based in a large steel fabrication facility recognized for its capabilities in high-rise buildings, bridges, and other structural projects.
