Job Summary:

Skyla Credit Union is seeking a skilled Credit Solutions Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our credit union, you will be responsible for the control of delinquent loan accounts and pending late payment reminders. Your primary functions will include making follow-up telephone calls on delinquent loan accounts, depositing related items in compliance with credit union policy, and maintaining accurate records on delinquent loan accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow up on delinquent, high-balance, and over-limit accounts by phone and/or letter.
  • Contact delinquent members by telephone/mail to determine the reasons for delinquency and assist them in developing plans to bring accounts current.
  • Maintain accurate records for accounting and collection of accounts.
  • Update and log activity on accounts through delinquent loan recovery system.
  • Review requests for credit information and corrections on credit files of members.
  • Investigate and correct discrepancies in credit reports.
  • Possess and demonstrate a high degree of familiarity with credit union collection policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations applicable to the collection of delinquent accounts.
  • Work with Lending Department to identify areas of concern and to help improve loan quality.
  • Monitor and ensure that third party agencies such as attorneys, collection agencies, recovery companies are ethical, efficient and accurate.
  • Ability to work independently and handle complex and urgent matters.
  • Ability to work in a multi-tasked environment.
  • Ability to adhere to bankruptcy procedures and operational risk controls.
  • Perform skip tracing activities as necessary.
  • Document all conversations and actions accurately.
  • Some Saturday and overtime hours may be required.
  • Comply with all Federal regulations, Credit Union policies and procedures, including Bank Secrecy and the USA Patriot Act.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with the Credit Union's values, mission, and vision.
  • Additional duties may be required.
Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma with additional course work in a related financial field.
  • Familiarity with credit union philosophy, work procedures, and financial institution operations gained from work experience.
  • Professional, well-developed interpersonal and computer skills necessary for servicing credit union members and projecting a positive image as a representative for the credit union.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills required to include concepts and calculations involving decimals, percentages, and fractions.
