Credit and Collections Associate Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Credit and Collections Associate to join our Finance team at National Gypsum Company. This role will report directly to the Credit Manager and be based at our HQ in Charlotte, NC.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate customers' creditworthiness and determine appropriate credit limits based on revenue exposure.
  • Establish and maintain customer accounts in the ERP system, analyzing Dun & Bradstreet reports and financial statements.
  • Review and process trade and bank references, ensuring alignment with credit limits and company credit policy.
  • Liaise with internal teams, including sales, customer service, and business unit representatives, to ensure all accounts are within credit limits and terms.
  • Analyze financial statements to assess creditworthiness and establish credit limits, updating customer credit lines as needed.
  • Work with Customer Service and Sales Representatives to resolve customer disputes and short payments.
  • Support Accounts Receivable specialists in applying payments and reconciling accounts.
  • Identify trends, perform root cause analysis, and implement process improvements to eliminate ongoing customer and internal issues.
  • Develop strong working relationships with internal and external customers, supporting and enforcing credit department policies.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Excel, and ERP systems (SAP a plus).
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or economics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of commercial credit and collection experience, with a strong understanding of credit functions, financial statement analysis, and GAAP.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • NACM Designation.
