POSITION OVERVIEW:

The role of the Plant Engineer is crucial for ensuring the effective installation and upkeep of manufacturing equipment and facilities, aimed at maintaining a safe, efficient, and economically viable operation. This position is accountable to the Plant Manager and involves travel requirements of up to 25%. Please note that this role is not eligible for hybrid work arrangements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Plant Engineer will function as both a Project Engineer and a Process Engineer, collaborating closely with the maintenance team to enhance operational efficiency.

As a Project Engineer:

• Contribute to the development of capital budgets by identifying specific projects, preparing funding requests, and sourcing competitive pricing

• Oversee and ensure timely completion of capital projects while adhering to budget constraints

• Facilitate the installation of project-related equipment, ensuring comprehensive training for operational and maintenance staff, and create necessary Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Preventive Maintenance (PM) plans

• Assess the equipment needs of the plant and provide recommendations to the Plant Manager for procurement

• Collaborate with Division Engineering on projects requiring engineering support

• Conduct annual facility audits to evaluate the condition of buildings, grounds, and equipment, estimating costs and prioritizing projects for implementation.

As a Process Engineer:

• Diagnose electrical and mechanical failures, devising effective solutions

• Formulate and execute strategies for upgrading process control technologies

• Analyze production challenges related to plant equipment and propose modifications to the Plant Manager

• Design new equipment or enhance existing machinery to optimize plant operations

• Evaluate new equipment for potential integration into manufacturing processes.

In support of the Maintenance Manager and the Maintenance Department, the successful candidate will:

• Assist in procuring repair parts and services, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery

• Support the maintenance team in implementing preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives

• Serve as a liaison for Plant Control Systems, including Fire Systems, Chillers, and Air Compressors

• Provide mentorship to Electrical Apprentices

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience

• Minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing environment

• Proficient in PLC programming, AutoCAD, and troubleshooting

• Familiarity with industrial electrical systems (power distribution, motor controls, etc.)

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Excellent communication skills across all management levels, with demonstrated leadership and training capabilities

* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
