OVERVIEW:


The Vocational Support Coordinator plays a vital role in aiding individuals with significant and enduring mental health challenges to secure competitive employment within the community, enabling them to achieve their highest vocational aspirations.

This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including conducting vocational evaluations, providing training in job search techniques, addressing personal presentation issues, offering guidance on entitlements, delivering time-limited job coaching, and facilitating interview preparation and job development with local businesses.

The coordinator must be adept at offering employment-related assistance to individuals with diverse skill sets and capabilities. Flexibility in work hours is essential to accommodate the needs of program participants and their employers. Effective communication with other service providers is crucial for coordinating comprehensive service delivery for participants.

SUPERVISORY ROLE:
No supervisory responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The role entails a range of standard operational tasks and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Establishing and nurturing relationships with businesses and industries to ensure effective job development and maintaining detailed records of these interactions.

- Providing counseling and support to help participants identify and establish vocational objectives and job interests, along with administering or coordinating interest and skill assessments as required.

- Securing employment opportunities for participants through proactive job development initiatives and maintaining open lines of communication with employers.
- Offering on-the-job support, training in job-seeking skills, and assistance with transportation arrangements necessary for participants to gain employment.

- Delivering on-the-job training; aiding in the adjustment and transition to the workplace; and supporting or educating employers and coworkers regarding the strengths and needs of the participants.

- Providing transportation for participants during the job development process or in instances where public transport is not feasible.

- Offering ongoing support and fostering independence; assisting participants, in collaboration with other service providers, to maintain a balanced life concerning work and other personal matters.

- Representing KUHN at seminars and conferences, including trade and human services training events, while staying informed about the latest approaches in human services and labor market trends.

- Advocating for and communicating with other agencies regarding confidentiality and the needs of participants.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

The individual in this position will also engage in related tasks such as participating in participant-centered meetings; contributing to KUHN committees; engaging in community events and organizations; assisting with positive publicity; and performing other miscellaneous duties as necessary.

Non-essential duties are shared among all staff as needed and are not specifically assigned.
Collaboration with colleagues is expected. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by management.

- Responsible for executing work duties safely, adhering to established safety protocols, and providing input to enhance overall workplace safety.



QUALIFICATIONS:


- Bachelor’s Degree in Rehabilitation, Human Services, or a related field, or a combination of a four-year degree in an unrelated field with relevant work experience.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Basic computer proficiency is required. Specific experience may be preferred based on the assigned participant caseload.
- CPR certification and First Aid training are mandatory.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
- Automobile insurance must meet KUHN's specifications when using a personal vehicle for work-related purposes.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This role may involve light to moderate physical activity based on the job supports that may be necessary for participants on occasion.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and drive.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employers, supervisors, coworkers, and other professionals.
