Arts Education Facilitator

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with educational institutions and/or community organizations to lead or support music and arts initiatives as assigned.
  • Execute the provided lesson plans and curriculum as needed.
  • Assist in organizing recitals and prepare the music program for participation in community events.
  • Motivate participants to strive for personal goals and foster a sense of achievement in their musical development. Inspire participants to uncover and enhance their talents, boosting their self-esteem and involvement in constructive activities.
  • Support the execution of music performances and events to raise community awareness of the organization's mission.
  • Encourage participants to engage in summer camps that will nurture their talents and guide them in making meaningful life choices.
  • Foster a positive work environment through effective conflict resolution, professional demeanor, and appropriate communication practices.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational safety certifications.
  • Perform additional duties related to Music and Arts as assigned.

Travel Requirements: Travel may be necessary.

Position Classification:

  • Regular part-time, non-exempt

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a strong commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army and be able to articulate this commitment effectively.

Successful candidates will pass a pre-employment background check and annual motor vehicle verification with a valid driver's license.

A minimum of two years' experience working with children and/or adults in the arts is required. Proficiency in music theory and a primary instrument is essential. Performance experience is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships are crucial.

Education:

A Bachelor's degree is preferred; however, significant related experience or progress towards a degree in music may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Team-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
  • Interest and capability to work with diverse populations in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Ability to establish and enforce policies and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including email, MS Office, and internet platforms.
  • Availability to work during days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

This position involves basic office and administrative tasks. To perform essential functions, the individual must regularly talk, listen, stand, walk, sit, and use their hands. The ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds is required. Proficiency in using office and computer equipment is necessary. Close vision is required for this role. Work may be conducted indoors and occasionally outdoors for meetings. The noise level is generally low to moderate.
