Job Summary

ASM Research is seeking a highly skilled IT Systems Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out moderately complex information systems and/or information technology tasks within more than one discipline, such as application support, database administration, software quality assurance/quality control, software engineering, network telecommunications, and infrastructure operations of administration, analysis, engineering, and design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and support the information technology and systems infrastructures.
  • Conduct moderately complex analysis including planning, designing, and evaluating a variety of information technology tools.
  • Serve as the backup to respond to user requests for system needs and upgrades or handle requests that are more complex.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems in an efficient manner with little to no supervision.
  • Implement standards for computer operations for compatibility between hardware and software, according to specifications and parameters.
  • Administer, run tests on, and maintain operating system and related software.
  • Schedule, perform, and monitor system backups and, when necessary, perform data recoveries.
  • Perform root cause analysis, diagnostics, and monitoring on various production systems.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and work with team members to implement efficiencies.
  • Effectively create and maintain relevant systems documentation and user guides.
  • Actively engage in the planning and designing of new platforms and integrating new technologies into existing infrastructure. Evaluate new technologies and releases.
  • Conduct cost analysis of newly designed platforms and technologies.
  • Create and review technical systems recovery plans to reduce downtime if a system outage were to occur.
  • Review the problem management register and identify actions.
  • Apply scripting methodologies to automate related tasks.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 4-6 years of experience in information technology, systems administration, or other IT-related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and products that include Microsoft Windows, Windows Servers, Microsoft Office365, and SharePoint, Microsoft Teams.
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve more complex system hardware, software, or networking-related problems.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate the deployment of new technology and resolve technical problems individually and as a project participant.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to translate technical terminology into terms understandable to non-technical employees.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, digital workspace, and storage technology.
