Job Title: Teacher Aide

Join the State of Missouri team as a Teacher Aide, supporting students with severe disabilities in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to assist classroom teachers in implementing individualized education programs for students with severe disabilities. As a Teacher Aide, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and supportive learning environment, promoting academic and personal growth, and fostering a sense of community among students, teachers, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement student instructional programs as directed by teachers, ensuring a tailored approach to meet each student's unique needs.
  • Follow behavior support plans for individual students, promoting positive behaviors and reducing challenging behaviors.
  • Accommodate students' individual communication needs, facilitating effective communication and social interaction.
  • Supervise students during off-campus instruction, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Follow daily schedules and work activities, maintaining a structured and organized environment.
  • Perform daily self-care tasks for students, such as diapering, feeding, and personal hygiene.
  • Follow student-specific special health care procedures, as trained by the school nurse, to ensure their medical needs are met.
  • Assist with arrival and dismissal procedures, ensuring a smooth transition for students.
  • Provide a safe and inclusive school environment, promoting a culture of respect and empathy among students, teachers, and staff.
  • Lift and move 50 pounds, assisting in changing positions of students as needed.
  • Accurately complete required reports on time, maintaining accurate records and communication with teachers and staff.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, including 15 hours of in-service training in the first year and 10 hours annually thereafter.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student, parent, and staff personally identifiable information, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and discretion.
  • Hold current certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid, as specified by the State of Missouri.
  • Participate in crisis prevention and management training, as required by the State of Missouri.
  • Occasionally travel for training and staff meetings, representing the State of Missouri and promoting a positive image of the organization.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; experience working with individuals with severe disabilities preferred.
