The Workers' Compensation/Insurance Coordinator plays a critical role in managing Washington University's Workers Compensation program. This position serves as the university's authority on Workers Compensation policies and legislative provisions, ensuring compliance with applicable Missouri law and regulations. The coordinator will liaise with senior management, supervisors, employees, and external Third Party Claim Administrators (TPAs) to report and resolve claims.
Key Responsibilities:
Workers' Compensation Duties:
- Manage claim reporting and claim file management of all Workers' Compensation claims through settlement and closure.
- Develop, recommend, and implement Workers' Compensation policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance and instruction to employees, supervisors, department administrators, and payroll representatives on Workers' Compensation policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Stay up-to-date on Missouri Workers' Compensation statutes, regulatory changes, and legal rulings.
Insurance Duties:
- Assist in reviewing and compiling information from various University sources to complete numerous applications needed for annual insurance policy renewals.
- Review contracts and certificates of insurance to ensure adequate limits.
- Request certificates of insurance from University brokers for outside vendors per contract terms.
- Administer the Property Insurance Floater Program.
- Support the University's involvement in captive insurance activities.
