Position Summary:

As a Senior Project Engineering Manager, you will spearhead significant capital initiatives exceeding $25 million, overseeing them from inception to realization. Your leadership will be vital in aligning internal teams with external stakeholders, ensuring meticulous management of deliverables, timelines, and budgets. You will engage in projects that encompass production, maintenance, regulatory compliance, and environmental considerations, utilizing advanced tools for planning and communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Review: Assess and analyze engineering proposals, drawings, specifications, and contractor bids.
  • Leadership: Facilitate project review sessions with both internal and external engineering and construction teams.
  • Effective Communication: Provide prompt feedback to external parties regarding project-related inquiries, including equipment specifications and site standards.
  • Project Oversight: Direct the execution of multiple capital projects across various locations, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion.
  • Collaboration: Partner with business units and plant resources to define clear project scopes, costs, and timelines, securing necessary approvals and funding.
  • Vendor Relations: Collaborate with external suppliers and engineering firms to design and implement projects, leading external engineering efforts.
  • Equipment Acquisition: Oversee the procurement of equipment, ensuring compliance with specifications and managing testing at vendor sites.
  • Progress Monitoring: Regularly update and communicate project status, ensuring alignment with budgetary and scheduling objectives.
  • Technical Guidance: Offer technical support to enhance plant efficiency, safety, quality, and sustainability, while developing technical resources.
  • On-Site Assistance: Aid in troubleshooting and resolving issues, sharing lessons learned across different sites.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain comprehensive records and correspondence related to projects, keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Construction Oversight: Supervise construction activities to minimize change orders and ensure seamless project execution.
  • Operational Improvement: Compile and provide project Operation and Maintenance (O&M) documentation, supporting initiatives to enhance plant reliability and profitability.
  • Safety and Compliance: Advocate for and implement practices that are safe and environmentally responsible, adhering to all company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Significant experience managing capital projects exceeding $25 million.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple high-stakes projects concurrently.
  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on project management.
  • Strong understanding of packaging principles, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience with technologies related to mixing, processing, packaging, and facility design.
  • Direct experience in operations, maintenance, or engineering within a plant setting.
  • Formal project management training or certifications are advantageous.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a capacity to motivate and guide teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience presenting to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture and upholding company values.
  • Familiarity with engineering principles and proficiency in project management software and ERP systems.
  • Adept at analyzing data, identifying trends, and making informed decisions.
  • Creative problem-solving skills to navigate project challenges.

Work Environment:

This role will primarily operate from our facility, with occasional travel required based on business needs.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Frequent sitting, hearing, and use of hands for data entry and communication.
  • Occasional operation of business machinery and lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Mental demands include multitasking, decision-making, problem-solving, and data analysis.
  • Potential exposure to chemicals, heights, loud noises, and mechanical equipment.
