Position Overview

The Academic Team at Democracy Prep plays a pivotal role in supporting school leadership to foster student growth and achieve educational objectives. As a Curriculum & Instruction Consultant, your primary responsibility will be to assist school leaders across various institutions by observing classrooms, evaluating lesson plans, and interpreting assessment data. This role is essential in pinpointing critical factors that enhance academic performance and collaborating with school leaders to implement effective strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Enhancing Academic Success in Schools
  • Engage regularly with school leaders, coaches, and educators to identify and implement instructional priorities at partner schools.
  • Collaborate with school leaders to enhance academic coaching by sharing best practices and refining their coaching approaches.
  • Ensure the integration of Regents-aligned teaching methodologies throughout the academic year.
  • Support the development and sustainability of Advanced Placement programs within schools.
  • Conduct thorough classroom observations, evaluate lesson plans, gather concrete classroom data, and identify strengths and opportunities for improvement.
  • Utilize data to identify support needs at partner schools and effective practices to be shared across the network.
  • Facilitate the growth of academic and pedagogical expertise through professional development, lesson study groups, and direct support to educators.
  • Identify and address obstacles to delivering high-quality instruction in classrooms.
Collaboration with the Academic Team
  • Work alongside the Academic team to enhance collective knowledge of best instructional practices across content areas.
  • Partner with school-based staff to ensure all schools meet ambitious performance indicators and improve student outcomes.
  • Create and refine high-quality, timely, and accurate assessments, units, and lesson materials.
  • Analyze performance trends on Regents exams across the network and develop strategies to enhance student performance.
  • Collaborate with leadership to address specific instructional needs within high schools.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including participation in network-wide initiatives.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • A minimum of four years of experience teaching a Regents course in New York State is strongly preferred.
Compensation

The salary range for this position is $80,000-$95,000, based on experience. Democracy Prep offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, vision, and dental insurance, 403B matching, and parental leave.
