Position Overview

As a Utility Plant Operations Engineer at ENGIE, you will oversee the monitoring and functioning of all utility plant systems in a secure and effective manner. Your daily responsibilities will include supervising and regulating the performance of various plant machinery and equipment, which may encompass natural gas/oil fired boilers, turbines, emergency diesel generators, chillers, air compressors, pumps, electric motors, fans, piping systems, water treatment, and any other equipment associated with campus utility operations. You will report directly to the Shift Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Hold a valid State of Ohio Stationary Steam Engineer's license.
  • Conduct plant readings, monitor utility system performance, perform water testing, and implement necessary adjustments to ensure reliable and efficient operations; maintain logs and documentation, and undertake additional tasks as assigned.
  • Communicate relevant information from the previous shift to the incoming shift.
  • Assist in the training of new engineers.
  • Respond to alarms and assess utility system conditions, performing troubleshooting and inspection tasks.
  • Execute startup, shutdown, and Lock Out/Tagout procedures for equipment.
  • Review and adhere to plant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials.
  • Operate current and future utility plant equipment, including but not limited to boilers, turbines, chillers, air compressors, emergency generators, and related machinery.
  • Maintain and clean plant equipment and facilities.
  • Work 12-hour shifts (6AM-6PM or 6PM-6AM), including weekends and holidays as required.
Additional Information
  • This position requires daily attendance at the worksite.
  • A valid U.S. driver's license is necessary.
  • Driving a company vehicle on campus is part of the role.
  • Compliance with ENGIE's COVID vaccination and testing policy is mandatory.
  • Adherence to all ENGIE ethics and safety policies is essential.
  • The role involves approximately 90% indoor work and 10% outdoor work, with outdoor tasks subject to weather conditions.
  • Some lifting may be required, up to 50 lbs.
Compensation Details

Hourly Pay Range: $27.45 to $39.42 USD hourly

This range reflects the average expected compensation for a qualified candidate. Actual salary may vary based on factors such as geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, and internal pay alignment.

ENGIE adheres to all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. The offered salary may differ based on various bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan.
