As a Junior Power Plant Operator at ENGIE, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the operation of various utility plant systems in a secure and effective manner. Your daily responsibilities will include monitoring and adjusting the performance of essential machinery and equipment, which may encompass natural gas and oil-fired boilers, turbines, emergency generators, chillers, air compressors, pumps, electric motors, fans, piping networks, water treatment systems, and other equipment integral to campus utility operations. You will report directly to the Shift Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a high school diploma or equivalent educational background.
- Review and comprehend plant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials to prepare for the State of Ohio third-class stationary engineer license exam, which must be completed within 18 months.
- Conduct regular readings, monitor utility system performance, perform water testing, and implement necessary adjustments to ensure reliable and efficient operations.
- Respond to alarms and system conditions, executing troubleshooting and inspection tasks as required.
- Manage the startup, shutdown, and Lock Out/Tagout procedures for equipment.
- Operate current and future utility plant machinery, including but not limited to boilers, turbines, chillers, air compressors, and emergency generators.
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of plant equipment and facilities.
- Complete necessary logs and documentation accurately.
- Work 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- This position requires consistent attendance at the designated worksite.
- A valid U.S. driver's license is mandatory.
- Driving a company vehicle on campus is part of the role.
- Compliance with ENGIE's COVID vaccination and testing policy is required.
- Adherence to all ENGIE ethics and safety protocols is essential.
- The role involves approximately 90% indoor work and 10% outdoor work, with potential exposure to various weather conditions.
- Some lifting may be required, up to 50 lbs.
Hourly Rate: $28.70 USD
This reflects the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. Actual salary may vary based on factors such as geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, and internal pay alignment.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for on-call compensation.
