Job Summary

The Office of the Chief Staff Attorney Paralegal provides critical support to Staff Attorneys in preparing appeals for judicial review and disposition. This role is responsible for managing cases throughout the petition stage of the appeal, including receiving assigned cases, organizing and assigning cases for presentation to the Court, and ensuring timely dispositions are reported to the Clerk's Office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage cases throughout the petition stage of the appeal, including receiving assigned cases, organizing and assigning cases for presentation to the Court, and ensuring timely dispositions are reported to the Clerk's Office.
  • Provide research and administrative support functions as assigned by the Chief Staff Attorney.
  • Assist in the procedural review of appeals and present continuance requests and motions to the Court.
  • Assist with training new attorneys and interns in office orientation, computer applications, and Court rules and requirements.
Requirements

This position requires a competent working knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, case management systems, and document management systems. Knowledge of appellate rules and regulations is a plus. The ideal candidate will possess well-developed written and oral communication skills, proficiency in time management, and the ability to work independently and as a team member.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor's degree or a paralegal certificate is preferred; however, an equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the required qualifications may substitute for educational criteria.
